We have nearly 100 Boer Goat does (approximately 1/2 Full Blood Boer Goat does and 1/2 Percentage Boer Goat does). We breed for fertility and hardiness. Any goats who do not produce 2 kids every kidding are culled. Further, we worm no more than 3 times per year, and are reducing that amount. Our does kid (often twins) at 1 year old (bred at 7 months). We kid in the spring (we pasture kid starting March 15th), and again starting in October in the Fall. Our goats do have shelter (often the cedar trees in the woods). Goats like to eat cedars in the fall and winter months. We are purposely giving our goat's hardiness a workout - they will eat hay through the 3 winter months, otherwise they are on browse and pasture.

We chose the name Sacred Heart Ranch because of the Sacred Heart of our Lord Jesus who loves us so much that He gave His life for us. We love goats, because they really are more wayward and remind us of ourselves. Our love for our goats always reminds us of our failings in following God, but as we care for our goats, it also reminds us of our Lord's love and care for us.
